Response from Malcolm Ford, the UKIP Candidate

1.What is your view of the Christian faith?
I have a very supportive view of the Christian faith as I was born into a family that did attend church on a regular basis although i must admit that I do not attend now as much as i should but this does not mean that I have lost faith. My belief however is that over the last decade this government has not supported Christianity due to its promotion of other faiths to appease the politically correct brigade.

2.How do you decide if something is right or wrong?
It can be very difficult to decide what"s right or wrong but it is important to consider all the facts and make your decision based on fairness without any prejudice or hatred.

3.What role do you think Christian values have to play in contemporary society?
Christian values have a very big roll to play in society by way of fairness, love and understanding. Christianity also brings comfort and compassion to many people who find themselves disadvantaged, aggrieved or wronged in any way.

4.Do you believe that marriage is for a man and a woman alone, for life?
Being one of the older more traditional Christians I do believe that marriage is for man and a woman alone for life.

5.Do you accept that people who believe heterosexual marriage is the only proper context for a sexual expression should be free to say so without falling foul of the law or losing their jobs?
Peoples beliefs on hetro-marriage should be heard without fear of the law or loss of employment.

6.Do you believe that churches should be free only to employ people whose beliefs and lifestyle are in accordance with Christian teaching?
No I do not believe that the church should discriminate against any one who has a genuine desire to work for the church as long as they do not have extremist views regarding the Christian faith.

7.Do you believe that parents should be free to exercise their responsibilities to discipline their children, physically (i.e. free to smack their children)?
I do believe that parents should be able to administer "mild smacking" of their children in places that do not permanently harm them,a smack on the bottom never did me any harm but did make me respect my parents,it is this respect that is missing in some youngsters today.

8.Who should be responsible for providing children with a ‘suitable’ education? (and how do you define ‘suitable’?)
It is my belief that education is the responsibility of both parents and teachers and that suitable education should include the importance of respect, care and love alongside the academic needs of the children.

9.Do you believe that the current law on abortion is too lax, too restrictive or about right?
I believe that the law on abortion is too "lax".Only in genuine cases such as health problems, rape, incest or after consultation regarding the possibility of the child being born with problems that could severely impair the child's life. Abortion should not be "on demand".

10.Do you think that the law on euthanasia should be changed?
I think the law on euthanasia should be discussed and consideration given to people who"s wish it is to die with a little dignity if it is certain that they are incurable and to carry on would cause them to suffer.

11.What aspects of life in our nation or in Tipton do you think politicians have responsibility for?
Politicians have a responsibility to serve the people to the best of their ability regarding crime, employment opportunities, affordable housing, education and health.

12.Are there any aspects of life in our nation or in Tipton you think politicians should not take responsibility for?
They should not try to dictate how we live our lives,or how we try to look after our communities within the bounds of law and order.

13.What aspects of your character and your life do you believe qualify you for serving as an MP for West Bromwich West?
I am a working class person and proud of it, I have lived and worked in the West Bromwich and Walsall areas all my life and understand the needs of this area. Sadly I have also witnessed a great decline in community, industry, education and social needs.

14.Why should the people of West Bromwich West give you their votes at this General Election?
I am 57 years old and as previously stated I have spent all those years in the area. I would like to think that I could bring some real "Black Country" values back here and prioritise the needs of "Our" area. I would definitely be available to my constituents and would not need a second home or a duckhouse to do my job. My satisfaction would come from the pleasure of serving the people
