God has a lot to say about families. We believe in
family life and are beginning to learn ways in which
we can support families. And we know we have much to
learn. We try to be ‘family friendly’ in
three ways.
First, we cater for the family on Sundays. The morning
service includes all-age interest and teaching and there
are group options for children, including a crèche,
during the sermon. The 12:15pm PowerPoint session caters
for 5-11 year-olds. eXcel is aimed at 11-14 year olds
and takes place at 4:00pm. Fortnightly at 8:00pm Motiv8
provides for 14-18 year-olds.
Second, we provide weeknight activities for boys and
for girls under the Boys’ Brigade and Girlguiding
banners. They provide a stimulating environment for
children across the age range.
Thirdly – and this may seem a contradiction!
We try not to be so busy that we don’t have time
for our families! We are feeling the way here but we
endeavour not to overload members so that church supports
rather than undermines family life.
We are a growing church and there is much to do –
more even than we mention in these pages. But in all
our activity we wish to build up godly family life.
