Confident

6 And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, continue to follow him.

7 Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him.
Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness. [
Colossians 2:6-7]

Being a Christian is about King Jesus being King of your life.

It's about being confident in Him.
It's not about keeping rules or going through rituals.
It's not about being respectable.

6 And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, continue to follow him.

Here's one man's description of just what a great King Jesus is:

The letter written to the Christians in Colossae is going to tell us more about Him. Back then even the Christian folk were in danger of forgetting who He is or of underestimating His greatness as God's King. As they did that they started adding rituals and rules to what was needed to 'really be a Christian' or they started just living like everyone around them again. They had lost confidence in Jesus.

Today, people have all kinds of views of Jesus:

Being a Christian is about being sure that Jesus is God's King and it's about Him being your leader, boss, rescuer, provider and the person you live for. It's about Him being our confidence and about being confident in Him - those two images of having our roots growing down into Him and of being built on Him show that vividly (Colossians 2:7).

The rest of our term is going to be exploring who Jesus is so that we might become or might continue to be confident in Him.
